A fun introduction to theatre movement for young dancers! This class will focus on musicality, movement and most importantly-FUN! Dancers will develop body awareness, musicality, and explore creativity through movement. This class will begin with a warm up and explore the fundamentals of musical theatre dance techniques using across the floor, exercises, and games. The class will end in exciting and energetic combinations that embody the joys of movement!

Annabell Walker (She/Her/Hers)

Annabell received her B.A in Theatre with a minor in Education from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her time in Santa Barbara allowed her to discover a combined passion of dance, theatre, and education. Her studies focused on theatre for community growth. She also worked with the UCSB Dance Department to hone professional dance skills and with the Department of Education to receive her minor focusing on Social-Emotional Development. Annabell was also fortunate enough to study the fundamentals of community outreach and Devised Theatre applications at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. This cross-discipline training allowed her to work in collaboration with the non-profit City at Peace to start a ‘theatre for well-being’ master class at La Cuesta Continuation High School as well as implementing her curriculum in several other community programs such as Boxtales, an acro-yoga-based devised theatre camp within the Santa Barbara Community.

 

Her mission is to create educational arts experiences that she hopes can reach all students, regardless of their interest in becoming career performers. Annabell merges the world of education, dance, and theatre to promote a positive learning environment where students can build their confidence and social-emotional skills, particularly in communities that may be traditionally underserved by the arts.
